Downloading Standalone Win Updates - Prob?

Is this normal to take longer than a few minutes? if those are not installed yet they will be installed. If the new updates which upgrade Windows Update client version, are not installed in a Windows 7 machine, it starts giving this annoying issue and the Windows Update program hangs at it seems that MS wants that same control in the predecessor O/S's as well.

It seems Microsoft has changed the way Windows Update client downloads and installs updates from Microsoft servers and only the new updated client is able to download updates from the servers, Tahir Solution 1 is great. None of this BS about turning off firewalls and antivirus, etc, etc.

In my case I went back and did a fresh Win 7 (SP1) install on my Dell, formatting the hard drive as well as deleting partitions previously created.
